Yesterday (October 8th) was my 34th birthday! I thought it would be fun to document the day by taking a photo every hour from-wake-to-sleep. In keeping with my 34 candles theme, each photo was taken on the 34th minute of each hour. {Lots of credit goes to Dan who was much better about remembering to take the photos than I was!}
7:34 AM - I knew that Dan wanted to bring me breakfast in bed, but my hips were KILLING me, and I couldn't spend another moment lying down. I mozied downstairs to find a yummy breakfast of strawberry smoothies and Count Chocula!
8:34 AM - Here are my gifts from my family. We have a tradition of taking the boys to the Dollar Store, where they use their chore money to buy gifts. (Logan will start participating when he is 3.) Conner got me Skittles, and Shane bought Swedish Fish. (Hmm... I think they're aware of my sweet tooth.) Dan got me a beautiful golden apple for my desk. My big gift from him was a Roomba, which we bought on Amazon Prime Day.
9:34 AM - I was hoping to have showered by now, but, alas, I kept getting distracted by things like Logan's dirty diaper. I told the boys to plug their noses for this one. Here, you can see Conner's crazy-amazing talent of plugging his nose by sniffing in his upper-lip. My grandpa could do that too!
10:34 AM - I still hadn't made it to the shower... I kept finding too many distractions! Here, I realized I still needed to grade some of Shane's schoolwork from Friday.
11:34 AM - I finally made it to the shower! The boys were off running errands, so I had the house to myself. The silence was GLORIOUS!!
12:34 PM - The boys brought home lunch from Panera, and I got a free dessert for my birthday. They were out of pumpkin muffins, but I guess an apple muffin will do. 😉
1:34 PM - Naptime! Growing a human is hard.
2:34 PM - I was still sleeping, so Dan took a picture of our closed bedroom door. It was kind of a boring photo, so I jazzed it up with some outerspace effects. Better, yes? 🙂
3:34 PM - Logan and I played some baseball!
4:34 PM - This was *supposed* to be a photo of me and Dan, but Logan came sprinting in to put his hands on my belly. Conner ran in next, and before we knew it, we had a family picture on our hands!
5:34 PM - Dan and I enjoyed a romantic dinner at The Melting Pot. (Three cheers for Nana and Papa for watching the boys!) Funny story... the waitress prepared our Flaming Turtle Chocolate and set out our dippers, explaining what each one was. She pointed out the "Oil-Coated Marshmallows," and my nose wrinkled at the idea. I did see marshmallows on the plate, but they did not look oily at all and had a dark coating on the outside. "Where did you say the 'oil-coated marshmallows' are?" I asked. "No, no," she corrected. "OREO-coated marshmallows." Oh! That sounds much more appetizing, doesn't it?
6:34 PM Even though we were stuffed from our meal at The Melting Pot, Dan and I still managed to find some room for my favorite cake--a Raspberry Cordial Torte from Manderfield's. Yum! Shane played "Happy Birthday" on the piano for me, and the littles sang.
7:34 PM - Nana and Papa had just left, so it was time for the big boys to start getting ready for bed.
8:34 PM - Poor Dan. He's conked out after a very busy day of making my birthday super-special.
9:34 PM - Dan got a second wind, so we re-watched an episode of Sherlock. I enjoyed an "Orange Dream" Sprecher (a birthday gift from my mom and dad).
10:34 PM - I headed up for bed and found this cuddly bug there. He had snuck down once during "Sherlock," and we had told him to go back to bed. A big smile spread across his face, and he said, "Okay. I will go back to a bed." Needless to say, we weren't too surprised to find him in ours. 🙂
